Free crafty fun

My boys are very active!  We've been outside so much this summer that when the weather turned cold for a few days I had to get creative quickly.  Here are some pictures of the fun things we've done recently for free (or almost).

We got out the paints and dug through the recycling bin for some flyers and such to paint on.

Gets right into his work
My boys love to be loud and make music.  After finishing some tins of cookies that we got from my grandmother, we made our own band.  TJ was so excited to start a marching band, which we took outside.

What fun thrifty things have you been doing with your kids?

Curtain Tip

Do you have a room where the sun shines in so brightly that you have pined up a blanket or sheet to block out the light?

Well MJ's room was so bright during the day that he wasn't napping very well.  I tied a bed sheet across the window, but after a while it starts looking a bit collage student like, and the curtains aren't functional.  In a stroke of genius I thought to my self, why not just sew some bed sheets to the back of the curtain!

I took off to the thrift store and bought a large dark coloured sheet, cut it in half and sewed it to the back of each curtain.  Tada!!!!  MJ's room is darker now and all the blankets are off the windows.

Thrifty Finds Part 2

The other day I went to the local thrift store.  I was so excited about what I bought, that I spent most of the next day refashioning the onesies into doll clothes.  We have several birthday parties to attend this month (all girls), so I thought I'd make some cute doll clothes.  I'm also going to make some from scratch too.

Here is what I made.  I simply cut the bottom half of the onesie off (because they are too long for a doll).  I then added a skirt and some embellishments.  If the onesie was too big for a doll I took it in at the sides.  Yes I still have my old Cabbage Patch Dolls to try things on.

This onsie with the tie is for MJ!

Because Blogger was down the other day I am posting later than usual.  Today is my wonderful husband's birthday.  We have having a party tonight for him.  I'll post more on that later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON!!
